REPORT: CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS AT THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL FOR THEIR FIRST EVER CHARITY PERFORMANCE

December 13th, 2019

Did you know that students, who study are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and 3 times more likely to be awarded for school attendance? Researchers find that sustained learning in music and theatre correlates strongly with higher achievement in both math and reading. Multiple studies have also concluded that curricular and extracurricular art studies and activities keep high-risk dropout students in school.

That’s why The Breya M. Browner Performing Arts Company’s mission is to bring visibility and insights by evoking changes in social injustices through arts in education.

On Friday, December 13th The Breya M. Browner Performing Arts Company hosted their first annual charity performance. This performance promotes community service; arts in education and de-stigmatizing the negative narrative surrounding the performing arts. This interactive event featured a showcase of local students, actors, singers, artists, and dancers and was free and open to the visitors and patients of Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.

This charitable event was one of over dozens that will be taking place right here in our community, of Prince George's County as a part of the international “Save The Arts” campaign coordinated by DoSomething.Org, a digital platform powering offline action.
